German Whisky of the Year 2023 at Meininger’s
International Spirits Award!
After our single malt whisky has matured for around half a decade
in American white oak casks, it is transferred to casks that
previously held high-quality rum from the Caribbean. Caribbean rums are
typically full-bodied and spicy in flavour. Before bottling, they mature
for several months or years in wooden casks, which, during the ageing process, absorb the complex
aromas of the rum. We then use particularly high-quality rum casks
to finish the SLYRS Single Malt Whisky. These include some
casks that previously held Rhum Agricole (made from sugar cane juice – not
from molasses, as is usually the case). During the finishing process, the whisky also takes on the typical rum
flavour notes, making it one of our masterpieces.
Tasting & Recommendations
Best enjoyed neat. However, it is also suitable as an ingredient
in premium cocktails.
