Character single malt whisky from the island of Sylt
This single malt is also an authentic product of Sylt. Its name ‘Jöl en Reek’ comes from the North Frisian Sölring dialect and means ‘fire and smoke’. This also refers to the Slyt peat that is extracted using environmentally sound methods and whose smoke is used to dry the moist malt. The barley supplied by farmer Jörg Runkel and the water from the ‘Sylt-Quelle’ spring emphasise the regional character of this superb whisky.
Unlike its SILD ‘sibling’ Crannog, it is aged not on the ship, but in a bunker on the famous island of Sylt. However, it soaks up enough of the climate to be bottled as a maritime German whisky with a taste of malt and peat.
